I had seen the signs while driving for a few weeks now, but now we know which company is building a brand new location along Hwy 14 in Rochester.
If you drive west from Rochester on Highway 14 (US Highway 14, technically) just past the Country Road 22 / Civic Center Drive overpass, there is several shops located along the main road, as well as the High Point Church.
And a few weeks ago, I noticed construction machinery at the end of the road, and land that was being cleared. Finally, I noticed a sign indicating what was under construction on the site, but since I usually drive 65 miles per hour, I was never able to read what was written on the sign.
But I stopped over this weekend and now I know what’s going on: this site will soon be Rochester’s new site Landscaping by the Weller brothers.
I did a little research online and found that Weller Brothers Landscaping (or Rochester’s brother Weller) is a business based in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. It is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year and has also been operating a site here in Med City, Minnesota since 2018. Their website says they provide landscaping design services to residential and commercial clients within a 50-mile radius. from Rochester.
Jeff Kiger of the Post Bulletin says the new 10,000 square foot facility will house offices as well as offices for the company’s 10 employees. The story also says they hope to double that staff here in Rochester next year, as they move out of their current location near the airport.
