CASE Construction Equipment bullish on India

CASE Construction Equipment, part of CNH Industrial, is looking to boost its domestic presence in India in addition to boosting its exports from the country, the company’s senior management said. Professional Coach on the sidelines of an industry event.

Fabrizio Cepollina, Vice President of CNH Industrial Construction Segment Africa, Middle East and Asia-Pacific AME and APAC, CNH Industrial, said, “We want to be ready for the recovery in demand. The company has already spent more than $200 million in India as the focus remains on growing every aspect of its business, Cepollina added, highlighting Gurugram’s new R&D center is an example of this and aims to become a strategic hub for the company’s global innovation footprint, focused on product development and digital solutions.

The R&D center is equipped with the latest technologies and capabilities, including an innovation department, vehicle simulation and a state-of-the-art extended reality/virtual reality lab to support global technology-driven projects. The Center has been operational since March 2021 and given its early feedback, the addition of additional design development spaces for additive manufacturing, embedded software, data analytics and user interface and user experience (UI/UX) with advanced simulation capabilities is planned. This site will play a strategic role in collaborative efforts with its sister R&D centers around the world to harness the opportunities presented by India’s digital ecosystem.

The Center will also focus on building core competencies in software solutions and customer-influenced technologies including cloud, embedded, electrification, autonomous and advanced analytics, simulation, automation as well as mechanical and electrical design.

“Our recently launched state-of-the-art Indian Technology Center will contribute significantly to the development of smart, sustainable and technologically advanced equipment for India and export markets,” he continued during a speech at Excon-2022, South Asia’s largest construction equipment trade show which started on May 16 in Bangalore.

CNH Industrial India serves the country through the Case IH, New Holland Agriculture and CASE Construction Equipment brands. The company has launched a range of machines, starting with the highly anticipated 770 NXe 49.5 hp backhoe loader, as well as the 770 EX Plus variant, 851 FX CP variant, 1107EX vibrating soil compactor, CX220C excavator LC-HD and the 845C motor grader. Additionally, CASE showcased the engine technologies that power its equipment in India and export markets. Representatives of the brand’s captive financial arm, CNH Capital, and other retail financial partners with financing offers that facilitate the purchase were on the stand to advise visitors.

Locally sourced parts
The backbone of CASE’s operations in India is its manufacturing plant in Pithampur, located in Madhya Pradesh. Spread over 162,000 square meters, it manufactures backhoes, vibratory rollers, crawler excavators with annual capacities of 5,500, 2,000 and 1,500 units respectively. Products made here are exported to more than 30 countries, including the Middle East, Africa, Southeast Asia, Sri Lanka, Russia and Bhutan. Satendra Tiwari, Factory Manager – CASE Construction Equipment, said, “Most of the equipment manufactured in Pithampur is 75% indigenous with locally sourced parts for fast-paced, large-scale manufacturing.”
