1. What is your experience in the manufacturing industry?

Throughout my career, I have worked with the manufacturing industry, from product manager to my current role. The manufacturing industry is very important in the UK and European markets, so it is a priority for us.

At Orange, we have significant experience in providing a range of IT and communications services to many different industrial customers, from food and beverage to automotive and construction. We support multinational manufacturers around the world on their digital journeys, from co-innovation and cybersecurity to networking and cloud services.

I work with the team to help our manufacturing customers bring technological advances in automation and IoT connected objects to improve the efficiency, security and performance of their operations. Our cloud and business consulting expertise, along with our manufacturing experience, enables our clients not only to achieve their digital transformation goals, but also to explore new business models and revenue streams.

2. How do you see the industry evolving over the next decade?

We’ve seen how the past 12-18 months have stretched manufacturing supply chains and put pressure on global logistics. The pandemic and other factors still pose availability issues for some products. The construction sector is a perfect example.

Despite this, and given the enormity of the global pandemic, these supply chains have held up remarkably well. For some areas of the manufacturing sector, I expect the next decade to produce a shift in production that will mitigate the risk of centralizing all production in one region. While Asia will continue to dominate as a location of choice for manufacturers, I expect manufacturing operations to be supplemented by more manufacturing centers in other parts of the world.

The value of data and analytics is widely accepted, and I expect manufacturing operations to continue to develop their data maturity to extract greater value and competitive advantage. Through data collection and analysis, manufacturers will hold more and more information about end consumers, and in some areas we will see a continued trend towards compressed value chains and direct-to-consumer models. . The data will also provide them with a deeper insight into the production process. This will inspire manufacturers to implement predictive and preventive maintenance to increase overall efficiency.

The manufacturing sector will continue to implement emerging technologies, including connectivity technologies, to track goods throughout the production chain, in transit and throughout the product lifecycle. 5G will also have a huge impact, especially on private networks.

The other evolving trend that will continue to drive change in the industry is sustainability and CO2 neutrality.

So over the next decade we will see fundamental change in many areas – greener manufacturing, more digital business models and different work environments – will all impact how the industry operates. .

3. In your career so far, what has been the best advice you have ever received?

At the start of my career, a colleague told me that you have to keep reinventing yourself like Madonna. While that could mean a lot, for me it meant constantly learning, being curious, and taking training when I could. I have learned so much from those around me. Anyone can teach you something, regardless of their level, age, background or experience. Each experience is a learning opportunity, so it is about being open to expanding your knowledge.

4. Was there a particular achievement that you are proud of?

I am very proud to see those I have recruited and helped develop to reach their potential and advance in their careers. Being able to push people out of their comfort zone and see what they are capable of accomplishing is the greatest achievement. Many came back to me years later for advice and even referrals. Besides working with clients, helping people grow is the best part of my job.

5. What inspires you?

I am a problem solver. So working with clients to co-innovate is what inspires me in my work. Data analysis allowed us to go even further; we help companies build completely new business models.

The feedback we get from clients and analysts is that the level of our client relationships is similar to that of small businesses. We work so closely with clients that we are able to effect change, whether through efficiency gains or creating new revenue streams. Seeing our clients succeed is incredibly inspiring.

6. What are your favorite activities outside of work?

I am very active, so everything related to a sport, especially the marathon. Our team (UK Orange Business Services team) will participate in the Windsor Half Marathon at the end of September.

While I can also be found playing paddle tennis, rock climbing or scuba diving, especially if it is a sport that overcomes fear, I also like get out of my comfort zone.
